How It Works

How to Do Traffic School for an LA County Ticket

The complete process from citation to clean record — including the court steps, the $64 admin fee, and how our course works.

Four Steps, Start to Finish

1

Confirm You're Eligible

Traffic school eligibility is set by California state law and the court — not by us. You need all of these:

✓ Valid (non-commercial) CA driver's license  ·  ✓ Minor moving violation, 1 point only  ·  ✓ Court permission granted  ·  ✓ No TVS in the past 18 months

Check your citation or log into lacourt.org to see if traffic school is available for your ticket. You can also call the LA County traffic call center at (213) 633-6300, Mon–Fri 8:30am–4:30pm.

2

Request Traffic School & Pay the Court's $64 Fee

Request traffic school at lacourt.org using your citation number or driver's license number. Pay your bail amount plus the $64 non-refundable traffic school admin fee directly to the court.

This court fee is completely separate from Freeway Traffic School. Pay the court first, then start our course free and pay only when you pass. No hidden fees.

⚠️ Deadline starts here: Once the court approves your traffic school request, you have 64 days to complete the course. One 60-day extension is available if needed — request it at lacourt.org before your deadline.
